Local Area

Cubert is a small costal village set between the famous tourist towns of Newquay and Perranporth. The historical church, village shop, pub/grill and bakery can all be found off the small village square. Cubert is very central location making it an ideal location to explore Cornwall. The city of Truro is only ten miles away and Padstow with its famous chef’s and fish restaurants only fifteen miles away.

Stunning Beaches

Only just over half a mile away you will find the stunning sandy beach of Holywell Bay with its iconic Gull Rocks. Within two miles of Shepherds Rest you can reach “Crantock Beach “and “Porth Joke” beach locally known as “Polly Joke”

Wherever you are in Cornwall you are never far from a stunning beach with a good spot! Sand or surf!

Coastal Walks

If walking is your thing then Shepherds Rest is the place for you. The local area is full of well-maintained footpaths crossing farmland and the nearby Cubert Common. From Holywell you can access the North Coast costal path go North across the National Trust protected Kelsey Headland or go south around Penhale Point towards Perranporth. Both absolutely stunning!

If you are looking to eat out there are many places nearby to choose from. We suggest the Smugglers Den Inn Trebellan Cubert or how about food with an amazing sea view, C-Bay at West Pentire Crantock or Lewinnick Lodge at Pentire Newquay.

Fun for Everyone

How about a family surf lesson at Holywell Bay, a game of golf, horse riding or cycling, fishing or a boat trip from Newquay Harbour. A day out in Truro, St Ives or Falmouth.  Or perhaps a day trip to the Isles of Scilly. At Shepherds Rest there is always fun for everyone!
